Jubilee Mint
Developing a completely bespoke, multi-tenanted eCommerce platform to reduce downtime for a collectible coin and stamp company
Project team
Replacing an incumbent Magento system to meet uptime requirements
Jubilee Mint is an eCommerce business that sells collectible coins. They also have 2 partner eCommerce companies, Harrington & Byrne and Harrington Stamps. The group of businesses approached Blue Frontier because their existing Magento platforms for each website were not fit for their complex requirements.
Jubilee Mint and its partner websites were experiencing frequent periods of downtime due to their existing systems not being able handle the requirements of their businesses, so Blue Frontier’s software development team formulated a bespoke, multi-tenanted solution that would work for all 3 businesses together.

Bespoke, reliable and multi-tenanted for ease of use
Where previously the client’s 3 websites were all on separate Magento systems, our software team developed a single backend system that would feed to each company’s user-facing website.
Our solution encompassed a Django storefront and API with a CMS/CRM coded in React and an integration with the Stripe payment system. This solution allowed for a completely bespoke build process and continues to allow for enhancements.
Where the previous system would have frequent periods of downtime, the custom solution that Blue Frontier created to date has had 100% uptime since deployment in late 2021.

Features and requirements of a bespoke eCommerce platform
When creating a bespoke eCommerce solution, there are a number of requirements that need to be factored in that may have already been considered within an out-of-the-box solution. For Jubilee Mint, their business takes a high volume of coin orders over the phone, which meant they needed their team to have the ability to manually input orders directly into the admin panel and have full control over the ordering process. They also required the ability to manage custom payment instalment plans and refunds.
Due to of the amount of functionality available to certain users, Blue Frontier built in the ability to set custom admin roles and user permissions in the back-end so they could assign different capabilities to different team members.
Because Jubilee Mint also has 2 counterpart brands, the Blue Frontier team created a multi-tenanted solution so each website could be managed by the same admin dashboard, but present as 3 separate front-end websites with their own sets of products. Currently the admin portal, hosted in AWS, handles approximately 60,000 different products, served to users from the most relevant of the 3 websites.
