At Blue Frontier, we've gone beyond 'full-service' to become the Holistic Plus+ Digital Agency, offering the widest range of services of any digital agency in the UK. Our business has been designed to elevate your organisation in all areas of the digital landscape. We specialise in helping businesses grow their online presence and achieve measurable results through tailored, data-driven marketing strategies, tech support, development, design, and more. From humble beginnings to bold ambitions
Blue Frontier begins
Business partners James Fry and Luke Harrington founded Blue Frontier in 2005, bringing together skills in business, leadership, technology, and project delivery. Both James and Luke remain in Directorial positions to this day.
First maintenance contract
Blue Frontier obtained their first maintenance contract – Clifford Fry & Co.; an accountancy firm based in Salisbury that specialises in helping clients save time, money, and hassle. 20 years later, Clifford Fry & Co. remain a valued client.
First international client
Blue Frontier’s first international client – The Cayman Islands Government - came on board. This signalled an exciting start for Blue Frontier expanding their digital support services overseas, leading to many more international partnerships.
10 employees
By July 2008, Blue Frontier employed 10 team members specialising in a range of digital areas and skillsets, providing more opportunities to expand the number of clients it was serving. Over half of these 10 people, including Director Marc Whittingham, are still at Blue Frontier today.
Started working with the NHS
As a leading UK digital agency, 2010 saw Blue Frontier’s first NHS client relationship established with the South, Central, and West Commissioning Support Unit. This was to be the first of many partnerships with the National Health Service.
Started working with Alere
In 2012 Blue Frontier began working with Alere, a global leader in medical research, diagnostics, and point of care testing. The first project of the partnership involved collaborating to define, design, and develop a new web-based platform.
Acquired Dynamics Digital
Dynamics Digital – a Salisbury based digital marketing agency – was acquired by Blue Frontier in 2015, bringing with it a stream of talented individuals to join the team, new expertise to launch end-to-end digital services, and a new Director in the form of Mike Bunn.
20 employees
The size of the Blue Frontier team grew to 20 by 2015, providing opportunities to serve more clients with a wider range of digital services than ever.
£1M milestone
Thanks to the expanded team and new range of digital services on offer, Blue Frontier hit the £1 Million milestone in December 2015. A sign of bigger things to come, this milestone demonstrated the hard work and potential of Blue Frontier.
ISO accreditations
Blue Frontier obtained three key ISO accreditations in 2016, making them one of the more unique digital agencies in the UK. Maintained to this day, and since joined by a fourth ISO (14001), Blue Frontier is recognised as a trusted partner for quality and compliance.
A new head office
A change in premises was required by November 2016 to accommodate the growing team. A new office opened in Old Sarum, Salisbury, to help with the growing demand for services, and is still the home of Blue Frontier HQ today.
£2M milestone
Just one year after the million-pound milestone, Blue Frontier recorded another huge milestone, hitting the £2 Million mark. A fantastic demonstration of the accelerated growth in the business, things weren’t looking to slow down anytime soon.
Finalists in The Drum Search Awards
In 2017, Blue Frontier were finalists in the Drum Search Awards in the SEO Best Professional Services Campaign category, for their work with Clinical Partners which involved undertaking an extensive SEO campaign to drive website traffic.
21st in Wirehive 100
Blue Frontier was a Finalist for Best User Experience in the Wirehive 100 League – a celebration of the outstanding creative and technical talent that the South has to offer – and finished 21st overall in the list of 100 organisations.
Winners of the Techies Cutting IT award
In 2018 more awards kept coming, with Blue Frontier winning the ‘Cutting IT’ award at the Techies in recognition of their connected health work with Alere. The award was designed to recognise a company working with groundbreaking technology.
Southampton office opens
In a push to keep driving growth for Blue Frontier, a new office was opened in Southampton to cater for new clients in one of the South’s major cities. This location allowed for the continued expansion of Blue Frontier with fresh local talent and clients.
Microsoft silver partner
Blue Frontier was awarded Microsoft Silver Partner status in 2018. This reflected the company’s ongoing successful relationship with Microsoft, and their ongoing expertise with Microsoft products, including deployment and usage of their cloud services.
Appointed supplier on G-Cloud
Blue Frontier was listed in the 2018 G10 list, providing evidence of their continued commitment to offering exceptional services and value to businesses within the public sector.
19th in Wirehive 100
Improving on their success in 2017’s Wirehive league, in 2018 Blue Frontier was listed 3 positions higher, putting them in the top 20 as a 19th position Finalist for User Experience out of 100 organisations in the South.
50 employees
Thanks to an ever-expanding range of services and clients, in October 2018 Blue Frontier hit the 50 employees mark. Many of the new team members were based in Southampton, with the new office giving Blue Frontier access to new pools of top digital talent.
£3M milestone
Following the launch of video production and other services throughout the year, Blue Frontier capped off 2018 by hitting the £3 Million milestone. With an ever-growing client base and a thriving team, more great things were to come.
Bristol office opens
In October 2019, Blue Frontier branched out westward to open a new office space in Bristol. This exciting step gave them the opportunity to pursue business relationships and expand the team in one of the UK’s leading digital cities.
Working from home during lockdown
As with many other businesses, 2020 marked a significant change to Blue Frontier’s working model as the majority of the team adjusted to working in lockdown conditions. After adapting exceptionally well, Blue Frontier has maintained a hybrid working structure ever since.
CREST accreditation in cyber security
After officially establishing Cyber Security services in 2019, the Blue Frontier team worked hard to attain a CREST security accreditation in 2020. The accreditation has expanded Blue Frontier’s credibility and profile in the security sector.
80 employees
With new starters joining teams across the business, and with the Bristol office expanding at an impressive rate, the Blue Frontier head count hit 80 in June 2021. With a more diverse range of services than ever, Blue Frontier looked towards growth and a 100-employee goal.
£6M milestone
October 2022 saw Blue Frontier hit their biggest financial milestone to date, as the team achieved their target of £6 Million turnover. Doubling the company’s turnover in under 4 years, and during the COVID-19 pandemic, was a testament to Blue Frontier’s hard work and agility.
100 employees
After a year of exceptional growth, Blue Frontier hit the 100 employees mark in April 2023! With more expanded support capabilities, new teams and departments, and the widest range of services of any digital agency in the UK, this milestone marked an exciting new chapter for the team.
Finalists in South Coast Tech awards
In 2023, Blue Frontier were shortlisted as finalists in the South Coast Tech Awards in several categories, including Tech Employer of the Year and Tech SME of the Year. As a highly prestigious and competitive awarding body, Blue Frontier were proud to be recognised amongst other industry leaders.
The launch of cobolt Studio
As Blue Frontier expanded, the team started looking for ways to give the creative individuals in the company more opportunities to flex their skillsets and work with clients in untapped sectors. This provided the launchpad for cobolt – a full-service creative studio and Blue Frontier’s sister brand.
The launch of Resolute
Looking at shifts in the market, Blue Frontier identified an opportunity from growing demand in the cyber security space. This opportunity resulted in the launch of Resolute – another brand under the Blue Frontier umbrella, which is dedicated to cyber safety and support.
New website launch
Changing markets, shifting client needs, and new service offerings meant it was time for Blue Frontier to revisit their brand and website. After a lot of internal analysis, strategy, and planning, the team pulled all their expertise together to launch the new and improved Blue Frontier website in January 2025, giving the brand some fresh messaging and a modern new look.

Doing our part for sustainability
As an ISO-14001 accredited company, we are passionate about doing our part when it comes to implementing sustainable practices and processes. We work hard to encourage our teams to think about sustainability at work, and help them to reduce their carbon emmissions with measures including a cycle-to-work scheme, paperless processes, and a net zero initiative. We also support our clients in hitting their own sustainability goals, by helping them implement more digital processes to reduce waste and increase efficiencies in everything from paper use to their supply chains.
